Ugly

Beware when you call someone ugly.
What you might be seeing is pain.
It’s the pain that’s ugly.
Not the person.
So instead of starting with labels.
Perhaps first see the person.
And then know the person.
So you will know truly what it means
to be that person.
Then something beautiful will happen:
you will find yourself unable
to see ugliness first.
If you’re lucky, you’ll never
see it again.
