Metered Poetry

All That’s Left

A poem about moments in life when you feel utterly and completely alone.

Love and joy
there used to be
Spirit’s Fire and Harmony
Alas, they’ve sailed
far out to sea
There’s nothing left
There’s only me

Time and space
there used to be
Adventure in the Mystery
Away they’ve flown
despite my pleas
There’s nothing left
There’s only me

Darkened rooms
all that remains
Time has run out
to break these chains
I fear I’ll never sing again
There’s nothing left
There’s only pain

Cold, black void
the empty plain
No sheltered haven
for me to claim
No fantasy left
for me to feign
There’s nothing left
There’s only
