Written for a friend I made through a creative collective: Constellation
Hello dear twin,
Our suns seem
to rise and set
over vast expanses
of oceans
Perhaps that
is where our
hearts truly
come alive
There are
mysterious oceans
in my dreams
and
warm oceans
under your board
that neither of
us ever want
to leave
You rock to
the rhythm
of ocean waves,
keeping time,
ticking minutes
in ebbs and flows
“Just one more”
on an endless loop
Just one more
Your body is
a bright beacon
of strength, which
baffles those
who look upon
you from the
distant shore
“Just one more”
on an endless loop
Just one more
And they stand
in awe at your
resilience
As the heat
from the sun
descends into
a tropical night,
the lookers-on
wonder how you
kept going,
kept staying,
kept saying
“Just one more”
on an endless loop
Just one more
They are not
privy to our
secret
They do not
hear the call
of the ocean’s song
They do not
go to the place
where we play
upon her
salt water arms
and listen to her
stories
That is why
we find it
hard to leave her,
so instead we
sing along
“Just one more”
on an endless loop
Just one more
