Bloody Ledgers

When all you do is blame the other.

You keep looking over
and reading out
our ledgers
to justify
your indignation
To satisfy
your rules
To vilify
the Other

Though you have
ledgers of your own,
miles long, and
oceans wide:
dripping, soaked
in crimson blood

What else shall we call it:
Systemic?
Endemic?
Entrenched?
Impressed?

Whatever you choose,
remember:
that you stand above
and we below,
in the darkness of
the pit you dug.

We’re looking
up at you
holding and spinning
your shovels
as you mull over
what to do next
