There lies a vastness
an immeasurable
Distance
between you and
me and the Truth
I gaze into
the blackness,
that divides us
and see only Nothings,
Nevers and No Ones
A great river of
the Beyond, flowing
impassable
Is that your voice I hear,
calling on the wind,
speaking beyond
the grave?
No matter: I’ll never
know it.
I’ll never hold it to
my cheek again.
You have swum across
that immeasurable Distance
and left the Truth
in river water
So even if that is your voice
I hear, calling on the breeze,
the Truth has now mixed
with loose sediment and is
carried away with the current
It will dissolve at its
cold, brackish mouth
before it meets the ocean,
and is never heard again.
