When 16th Street Baptist Church Was Bombed

As four little girls
closed
their eyes for their
Eternal Repose
The world rose, and
stretched its bones, while
the Darkness was
illuminated with Truth
and shown to the World
How it revelled and
rebelled in droves
against changing norms
way down South, where
it thought it would not
be known

But those
four little girls would
not go quietly
as those rebels
intended; as they
were expected

Though they could
speak no more, they
did not die in vain,
they did not die
for nothing

Your bomb did
not kill
it amplified
their voices
And gave strength
to those who then
had to stand up
to your droves
